[First Name]

This week we are feeling the love.

Today we are marking another year of HK heartbeat -- we're 17 today.

And we are celebrating the originals who inspired this adventure all those moons ago.

Our original name lasted exactly 5 days and then it was a scramble to register a new domain and get HK heartbeat up and running the following Tuesday after the new name came to me during a weekend mindfulness workshop.

Beginning with the humble email newsletter, we hosted our first event to launch the print directory in 2005 and started building the website directory in 2006 to maintain current listings online. Our first online guide was launched in 2014. We will be bringing you a new series of special features to introduce members with conscious gifts and helpful hints in time for a healthy, happy holiday season.

I am a geek at heart, so it makes sense to grow with tech and embrace digital social to connect with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram ... we have already outlasted Google+ and new member services are in the works.

Now, we're getting help from Green Queen and Liv magazine -- Sonalie, Tracy and Sarah have proven their passion for sustainable living by keeping the lights on in our expensive city. We're happy they've joined the fun to reach an even wider audience, outlasting numerous publications that have come and gone over the years.

You can join our celebration with special offers until the end of the month.

What would you like to see in our next chapter?

Naturally,

Founder

Join the One Tone Challenge

Bring your clean plastic beverage bottles for recycling.

The One Tonne Challenge aims to collect over 10 tonnes of PET (polyethene terephthalate) type 1 plastic. The collected plastic will be recycled into tote bags providing extra income for waste pickers and creating sewing jobs for rehabilitation participants with proceeds from the sales of the bags going towards improving the lives of waste pickers. The program includes environmental education and visits to assist waste pickers with the aim of promoting ecological conservation while assisting some of Hong Kong’s least fortunate citizens ... read more
